The Heritage Chronicle
Editorial Policy
Accuracy
Quantitative facts (coordinates, classification, elevation, USGS map reference) come directly from the U.S. Geological Survey; we do not edit these values. Prose descriptions are templated from the underlying fields rather than hand-written, which means factual drift between posts is not possible within the same data snapshot.
Corrections
If a page contains an inaccuracy, please contact us and include the GNIS Feature ID printed under the landmark’s headline. We will verify against the current GNIS export and, where applicable, submit a feedback item upstream to USGS.
Opinion vs fact
The Chronicle does not contain opinion content. Any qualitative phrase on a landmark page (“accessible,” “challenging,” “peak flow in June”) derives from published classification heuristics, not a reviewer’s personal judgment.
Revisions
Each landmark page displays the last revision date; revisions flow automatically from the upstream data providers on our weekly sync.
